Laurel H. "Scotty" Scott

Laurel Harvey “Scotty” Scott, 87, of Mooresville, passed away March 20, 2017 at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Indianapolis. Scotty was born July 27, 1929 in Indianapolis to the late Everett H. and Rowena L. (Patterson) Scott; his parents preceded him in death. On April 22, 1950, he was united in marriage to his loving wife, Bonnie Jo (Benjamin) Scott and she survives.

Scotty worked at WABCO in Indianapolis for 36 years as a general foreman of the hydraulic department and machine shop, and in purchasing. A man of faith, he was a member of Grace Church in Camby. He was a former member of the Plainfield Lodge #653 F.&A.M. and taught junior achievement to youth in the 1960’s. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking. A fine wood craftsman, Scotty especially enjoyed making log cabin style doll houses and barns for children.

A loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, Scotty will be remembered fondly by his fun-loving sense of humor and most famously by his horn on his walker.

Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Ronald Scott.

Survivors include his wife and best friend of 66 years, Bonnie Jo; daughter, Sinda L. (R. Patrick) Feagan of Mooresville; sister, Deloris (Millard) Galyan of Danville; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Scott of Indianapolis and Arlene Howard of San Jose, California; three grandchildren, David (Angela) Bales, Dale (Sara) Bales, and Dana (Chris Chaney) King; and five great grandchildren, Kristen Miller, Caroline Bales, Ashley Bales, Adam Bales, and Natalie Bales.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Laurel H. “Scotty” Scott on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. Pastor Jim Taylor will conduct the funeral service on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.
