Leonard Grider
79, passed away peacefully at Meadow Lakes in Mooresville on August 16, 2022. Leonard was born in Russell Springs, Kentucky to the late Mayfield and Elsie Grider. Leonard moved to Indiana, where he met his late wife, Ethel Grider, whom he married on August 12, 1963, and they later had 3 children. Leonard worked as a machinist at Tube Processing in Indianapolis. He loved gardening, playing bingo and spending time with his family. Leonard, along with his late wife, loved to bowl and participated in various leagues over the years. Leonard was a devoted husband and father, who taught his boys many important life lessons, but especially how to treat others and have a strong work ethic. Friends and family remember Leonard as a kind, gentle, and patient man who loved his family and enjoyed the simple things in life.
Leonard is survived by his three children, James (Donna) Grider of Mooresville, Indiana, Todd (Amanda) Grider of Nashville, Indiana, and Kris Merrifield of Russell Springs, Kentucky; 11 grandchildren, Ashton, Jessica, Zach, TJ, Emily, Blake, Ady, Crystal, Dewayne, Tony, and Melissa; and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Roy Grider.
Leonard was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Ethel Marie Grider, as well as his siblings James Grider, Arvil Grider, Kathleen Wilson, and Sherlene Rooks.
A Memorial Gathering for Family and Friends will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory from 12:00pm-2:00pm.
