Leonard T. Ratcliff, 86, Mooresville, died December 1, 2013, in St. Francis Hospital, Indianapolis. Mr. Ratcliff was born in Indianapolis on March 22, 1927, to the late Joseph Thomas and Hazel (Blunk) Ratcliff.
Mr. Ratcliff graduated from Washington High School, attended Butler University, and proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a devoted employee at General Motors for 34 years, retiring in 1982. In addition, Mr. Ratcliff was a member of the Monrovia Christian Church and the Monrovia Masonic Lodge. An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Ratcliff enjoyed riding horses, hunting, camping, and spending time in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. Leonard and his wife Dorothy were accomplished round and square dancers, belonging to the Lucky Squares of Greenwood and the Spice of Life Round Dance Club. He will be missed by a loving family and many friends.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Dorothy (Skaggs) Ratcliff; daughters, Jina Clark (Dan) of Greenwood and Janet Smith of Greenwood; sister, Rachel Grooms of Mooresville; grandchildren, Kimberly Rankel (Kevin) and Clayton Smith; great grandchildren, Tyler, Rileigh, Hunter, and Cassidy; step-grandsons, Bob, Kevin, Danny, and Shawn Clark. He was preceded in death by a step-grandson, USMC Sgt. John Rankel.
The funeral service will begin at 12 Noon, Wednesday, December 4, 2013, in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, with calling there from 10 a.m. Pastor Richard Dickison will officiate, and entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
