Lois Shirley Stone, 99, Mooresville, passed away September 9, 2020, in her residence. Shirley was born November 8, 1920, in Norwood, Massachusetts, to the late Carroll Eugene and Ruth Wilder (Capen) Small.
Shirley worked as a chain assembler for over 38 years at Link Belt, retiring in 1982. She was a member of Mt. Gilead Church for more than 50 years. She will be fondly remembered for her kind and generous manner by her loving family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her first husband, Arman Hazel and her husband of 50 years, Coleman Porter Stone; son, Eugene Hazel; brothers, Carroll Otis Small and Fred Palmer Small; a granddaughter, Terri Darlington; sister/friend, Mattie Belcher.
Survivors include one daughter, Ruth Joan Hamilton of Plainfield; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sixteen great great grandchildren.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate nearly 100 years of Shirley’s well lived life on Wednesday, September 16, 2020, 5 to 7 p.m., at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 17, 2020, at the funeral home, with Pastors Jeff Faull and Terry Crist officiating.
