Lucy Pearl Cox Finet, 91, of Mooresville and formerly of Clay City, Indiana passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Meadow Lakes in Mooresville. Lucy was born March 2, 1927 in Manchester, Kentucky to the late Gilbert and Cinda (Owens) Hoskins. In 1945 she was united in marriage to Homer M. Cox, their marriage produced four loving children; he precedes her in death. In 1993 she was united in marriage to Phil Finet and he preceded her in death in 2002.
As a loving homemaker, Lucy’s life revolved around her entire family. She co-owned C&D Market in Martinsville for a number of years.
A devout Christian, Lucy was actively involved in the Clay City Baptist Church where she taught Bible school, sang in the choir and played the organ. Always giving of herself to others, Lucy was a volunteer at the women’s shelter in Clay City and prepared and delivered meals for local shut-ins. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, fishing, canning, and cooking
during her spare time.
Lucy is also preceded in death by her son, Daniel P. Cox; her daughter, Phyllis Elayne Chattin; two brothers, James and Eugene Hoskins; and three sisters, Sue Thomas, Henrietta Pennington, and Katherine Moore.
Survivors include two daughters, Dianne Nester Starnes and her husband, Harold, of Camby, and Debbie Dowell and her husband, Art, of Mooresville; her sister, Rosetta Wardrup of Hamilton, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Lucy Finet from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2018 in the chapel at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service and Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
