Malinda E. Stephens, 83, Mooresville, passed away at her home April 12, 2021. Mrs. Stephens was born October 19, 1937, in Danville, Kentucky, to the late Martin L. and Birdie (Watts) Russell.
Malinda graduated from Thomas Carr Howe High School and worked various jobs while her children were young. Her most recent job was working as a secretary at Flanner & Buchanan Mortuary. She was a longtime member of Stop 11 Road Church of Christ. She enjoyed crocheting and was an excellent baker – no one ever wanted to miss Malinda’s orange juice cake. She was also very involved in scouting through the years in Brooklyn. All three of her sons went on to become Eagle Scouts. Malinda will be fondly remembered by her loving family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Stephens; brother, Martin T. Russell.
Survivors include her children, Charlie (Tina) Stephens, Connie Sue (Allen) Davis, David Stephens, and Gary (Robbin) Stephens; brother, Finley Russell; sister, Nancy (Bob) Peedin; sister-in-law, Sue Russell; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, April 16, 2021, 4 to 8 p.m., at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 17, 2021, with burial at the Brooklyn Cemetery.
