Margaret “Peg” (Read) Davee
84, of Mooresville, passed away on April 18, 2024 at Meadow Lakes in Mooresville. Peg was born on May 25, 1939 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Farren W. Read and Margaret (Isenhower) Read.
Learning was the cornerstone of Peg’s life. She studied at Indiana, Purdue, and Butler Universities, earning her undergrad degree in microbiology and teaching, her master’s degrees in biology and anthropology and a PHD in medical genetics. She worked as a biology teacher at Center Grove High School and then as a genetic counselor at Indiana University Hospital, including her most important role of Mother to her four children. Peg was an active and faithful member of the First Christian Church in Mooresville, where she taught Sunday School, served as an Elder, sang in the choir, participated in the Christian Women’s Fellowship, as well as serving on many boards over the years. Additionally, she was a member of Tri Kappa Sorority in Mooresville, and the Bayview Club. In her spare time, she enjoyed cross stitch, was an avid gardener and tackled many home renovation projects. She and her husband Jerry were avid sports fans, and had season tickets to the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers and Purdue Football.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Jerry M. Davee, and a sister Kathleen Read.
She is survived by her daughter Lynn (Steve) Kolcun; sons Jim (Sheila) Davee, Joe (Jen) Davee, Pete (Tracie) Davee; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Peg’s life on Sunday, May 5th from 2:00pm- 4:00pm at the First Christian Church in Mooresville, with memorial services beginning Sunday, May 5th at 4:00pm in the church.
