Margie Marie Sweet

Margie Marie (Parker) Sweet, 96, Mooresville, passed away May 17, 2021. Margie was born March 27, 1925, in Harlan County, Kentucky to the late Alfred Green and Mintie (Huff) Parker. Margie married the late Elmas E. Sweet on April 1, 1952, and he preceded her in death on January 15, 2018.

She was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. A proud homemaker, Margie enjoyed crocheting, camping, and will be remembered for her incredible talents in the kitchen. She loved to cook and always made sure everyone was satisfied and very full of things like apple pies, cornbread & buttermilk, fried fish, and homemade biscuits & sausage gravy. Margie and Elmas enjoyed a great retirement, wintering in Haynes City, Florida for more than 20 seasons. It was there that the Margie and Elmas’ Country Breakfast originated, and Margie was named Neighbor of the Year. Margie will be fondly remembered by her loving family and many friends.

In addition to her parents and Elmas, she was preceded in death by brothers, Sam, Billy, Shelby, and Lester Parker; sisters, Oma Lee Vandeventer, Judy Caprio, and Fanny Parker.

Survivors include her daughter, Billie Jo (Ron) Dalrymple; son, Randall (Sandy) Parker; brother, Buster (Marcia) Parker; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren.

Margie’s Life Celebration® visitation will be on Saturday, May 22, 2021, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Pastor Terry Crist will officiate the 1 p.m. funeral service. Cremation will follow services, and Margie and Elmas will be buried together at White Lick Cemetery.
