Marie Walls Stagner Grooms, 93, Mooresville, died peacefully at home December 14, 2015. Mrs. Grooms was born November 2, 1922, in Stanford, Kentucky, to the late John Harlan and Della Mae (Floyd) Walls.
Mrs. Grooms worked as a cook in various restaurants in Kentucky and Indiana through the years. She enjoyed gardening and had a tremendous green thumb. She was strongly devoted to her family and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, William Stagner and Lester Grooms; siblings, Clarence Mack Walls, Anna Margaret Walls Woodruff, Thomas Franklin Walls, and Harlan Walls, Jr; one daughter-in-law, Judith Stagner.
Survivors include her children, Emma June Whitney (Thomas) of Mooresville, William Stagner of Bargersville, JoeAnna Teagarden (John, Sr.) of Monrovia, and Sherman R. Stagner (Cynthia) of Mooresville; 13 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; 2 great great great grandchildren.
The funeral service will begin at 12 Noon, Friday, December 18, 2015, in the chapel at
Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Friends and family may call from 10 a.m. until service time on Friday. Rev. Don Ensdley will officiate and burial will be in Mt.
