Mooresville

Marlin Dean Cook, 56, of Mooresville, passed from this life on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at his son’s home. He was born in Indianapolis, IN on February 14, 1968 to the late Marlin Charles Cook and Patricia Ann Sartin.

Marty, as most knew him, was a graduate of Decatur Central High School. He worked as an iron worker most of his adult life. Of Christian faith, he attended Hoosier Harvest Church in Martinsville.

An avid outdoorsman, Marty enjoyed canoeing, camping, and fishing. An adventurous soul, he enjoyed swimming and diving off bridges. He was incredibly handy and loved working with his hands and building objects. Above all, he was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his family. When he was not with his family, he was generally talking about his family.

He will be missed by his family and friends including his sons, Shane (wife, Kyrsten) Cook of Brownsburg, Jacob Cook (partner, Brittany) of Mooresville, Dylan Cook of Pittsboro, and Tyler Abell of Pittsboro; daughter, Brandi Cook of Brownsburg; brother, Brandon Cook of Colorado and Josh (wife, Ravin Walls) Sartin of Mooresville; sisters, Angie (husband, Lloyd) Kelly of Oliver Springs, Tennessee and Stefanie (husband, Dustin) Davis of Mooresville; and grandchildren, Isabella Austin, Brooklyn Austin, Rylan Cook, Ethan Cook, Melody Cook, Korra Halcomb, Oliver Cook, and Callie-Ann Cook; and his faithful dog, Roxanne.

Family and friends will gather at a later date for a memorial service. Further details will be announced once available. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to the Arbor Day Foundation. Donations may be made online at https://www.arborday.org/.
