Martha L. Eastes, 94, Centerton, died September 21, 2012, in Meadow Lakes. Mrs. Eastes was born September 4, 1918, in Indianapolis, to the late William F. and Carrie (Fisher) Bowman.
She worked for a number of years as a cook with the Martinsville Schools, PAL Club, and Bradford Woods. In addition, Mrs. Eastes was a member of the Brooklyn Christian Church and was a 50-year member of the Martinsville Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Eastes was preceded in death by her husband, Ivie Ray Eastes; brothers, Edward and David Bowman; sisters, Mary Watson, Rose Harris, and Clara Francis; grandchild, Martha Louise Armstrong; great great grandchild, Waylon Greer.
Survivors include her son, Robert R. Eastes (Barbara) of Camby; daughters, Ruth A. Adams (the late Joseph) of Mooresville, Patricia L. Strouse (Jerry) of Cold Spring, Texas, and Rosemary Armstrong (Don) of Centerton; brother, Charles Bowman; sister, Norma Wampler of Dayton, Daisey Abrams of Indianapolis, and Betty Davis of Indianapolis; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchildren; canine companion, Ivy.
The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 27, 2012, in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, September 26, 2012. Rev. Bill Burkley will officiate, and burial will be in the Clayton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brooklyn Christian Church or to the Morgan County Humane Society.
