Mary A. Holmes

Mary A. (Shelley) Holmes, 79, Camby, died January 15, 2012, in the Worthington House. Mrs. Holmes was born December 14, 1932, in Indianapolis, to the late Kenneth and Dorothy (Routh) Shelley.

Mrs. Holmes was a homemaker and faithful member of Friendswood Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Mrs. Holmes enjoyed sewing, reading, and collecting cookbooks.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, William R. Holmes; brother, Marshall E. Shelley; sister, Carol R. Clarkson; brother-in-law, Joe Potocny.

Survivors include her children, David William Holmes (Dena) of Martinsville, Daniel R. Holmes (Kara) of Greencastle, and Elizabeth J. Wheeler (Sam) of Cicero; brother, K. Merrill Shelley (Jennifer) of Camby; sister, Melanie Potocny of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Isaac, Andrew, and Ashley Holmes, and Paige Wheeler; sister-in-law, Barbara Shelley of California; brother-in-law, Richard Clarkson of North Vernon.

The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m., Thursday, January 19, 2012, at Carlisle - Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, January 18, 2012. Burial will be in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friendswood Baptist Church.
