Mary Jane Copeland

Mary Jane Copeland, 81, Mooresville, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on July 4, 2013. Mrs. Copeland was born June 19, 1932, in Indianapolis, to the late James Moreau Benton and Mildred (Dismore) Fields.

She was a 1950 graduate of Mooresville High School and remained active through the years with the Mooresville Alumni and helped plan the annual dinner. She was a member of the Mooresville Friends Church and Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority. She had worked for Goodman’s, as a secretary for Doctor Karpel, and at the Speedway Dairy Queen. In addition, she worked for the State of Indiana in the Department of Revenue. Mrs. Copeland loved her life on the farm, and enjoyed gardening, canning, embroidery, and swinging on her porch. She could often be found cheering on sidelines at her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. She will be missed by a loving family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by one son, James M. Copeland.

Survivors include her husband, Dwayne Copeland, to whom she was united in marriage August 30, 1951; children, Nina Mynatt (Steve) of Mooresville, Dale Copeland (Jackie) of Plainfield, and Rex Copeland of Mooresville; half-sister, Vicki Lasiter (Harry) of Mooresville; grandchildren, Cris Mynatt (Hali), Carrie Justus, Steve Mynatt, Jr; Sarah, Joseph, and Anna Copeland; Megan and Jessica Copeland; Craig Copeland (Stephanie), Eric and Adam McGuire; five great grandchildren.

The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 7, 2013, in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 2 to 5 p.m., Saturday, July 6, 2013. Pastor Sue Whitesel will officiate, and burial will be in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville. Memorial contributions may be made to Churches in Mission.
