Mattie Elizabeth Belcher, 97, of Mooresville, died November 8, 2012, in St. Francis Hospital, Mooresville. She was born April 19, 1915, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, to the late George and Clara Alma (Cox) Cox.
Elizabeth worked for over 23 years as a chain assembler for Link Belt; retiring in 1970. She was a faithful member at the Church at Mt. Gilead, Mooresville. Lizzy was a very self-sufficient lady and enjoyed spending her spare time crocheting. She will be dearly missed by all of her loving family and friends.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Arthur Belcher, to whom she was united in marriage on October 18, 1932; son, James Leroy Belcher; daughters, Betty Dee Gonzales, and Dorothy Mae Jones; brothers, Thomas, Earl, Gilbert, and Eddie Hazel; sisters, Emma Mae Brackett, and Frances Carter Bean; grandson, Stephen Jones; great grandchild, Brook Jones.
Survivors include her sons, Arthur “Eugene” Belcher (Carol Lynn) of New Palestine, Ronald Earl Belcher (Nancy) of Martinsville, Floyd 'Rick' Edward Belcher (June) of Monrovia; sister friend, Shirley Stone of Five Points; close friend, Phillip Morris of Texas; 12 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, November 13, 2012, in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, November 12, 2012.
