Maxine Grass
91, of Mooresville, passed away peacefully at home on July 13, 2021, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on May 12, 1930 in Mooresville, IN to the late Agnes (Ward) and Lester Hardin Park.
She graduated as Salutatorian from Mooresville High School in 1948. She married C. Wayne Grass on October 19, 1951, living her entire life in Morgan County farming, raising cattle, sheep, goats and mules. Maxine enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending farm auctions with her husband. She was an avid collector of chicken memorabilia. She was an enthusiastic supporter of 4-H and never missed an opportunity to out to eat with family. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Gilead Church.
Maxine is survived by her daughters, Dee Ann Deel of Mooresville, Brenda Acker (Eric) of Mooresville, Kristy Mattingly (John) of Lebanon; grandchildren Jason Cosat, Nicole Deel Findley, Brandon Deel, Brian Acker, Emily Firmenich, Samuel Mattingly, Tessa Mattingly and 9 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Kenneth Orville Park and a great-granddaughter Angeline Deel.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate Maxine’s life on Friday, July 16th from 4-8pm at Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with services Saturday at 11am in the funeral home. Burial will follow the services in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Glen’s Valley.
Memorial contributions are encouraged to be made in Maxine’s memory to Mt. Gilead Church, Mooresville.
