Melvin L. Huffman, 88, Martinsville, died July 13, 2013, in Meadow Lakes, Mooresville. Mr. Huffman was born September 23, 1924, in Bloomfield, Indiana, to the late Henry Huffman and Edith (Heaton) Hunter.
He graduated from Bloomfield High School and proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. A hard working gentleman, Mr. Huffman worked for 27 years for RCA and then was employed for a number of years for Indianapolis Office Supply, now Business Furniture Corporation. He was a member of the Smith Valley United Methodist Church, the Mooresville Masonic Lodge #78, and the Robert Kennington American Legion Post in Indianapolis. Mr. Huffman was a loyal family man and took great pride in his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Dexter Hunter; brother, John Huffman; half-brothers, Bill and Teddy Hunter.
He is survived by one son, Richard Huffman and his wife, Tammy, of Mooresville; grandchildren, Heather and Scott Huffman.
The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 18, 2013, in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 17, 2013. A Masonic Memorial will begin at 7 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Nebo Memorial Park, Martinsville.
