Mervyn R. Bray, 88, of Lafayette, died on August 17, 2011, in Millers Merry Manor, Mooresville. He was born on January 31, 1923, in Romney, Indiana, to the late Ingram Worthy and Ada (Deckard) Bray. He was one of fourteen children.
Mervyn was a proud veteran who served during World War II. He married Elsye M. (Snow) Bray on October 7, 1951. Mervyn worked for many years as a cement truck driver for Verplank Concrete and Supply in Lafayette, and was a member of the Local Teamsters.
Survivors include his wife, Elsye M. (Snow) Bray of Lafayette; daughters, Melanie Stroud of Somerset, KY, Melissa Ihme of Martinsville, Katrina Bray of Marco Island, FL; brothers, Bill Bray of WI, Ralph Bray of PA; sister, Pauline Winger of Lafayette; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and a canine companion named Gabby.
There will be a memorial service held at 1:30 P.M., Saturday, September 3, 2011, in the Kingdom Hall of Jehova's Witness, 2224 State Street, Lafayette, IN 47905. Arrangements are being handled by Carlisle - Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville.
