Michael A. Mason, Sr., 72 of Mooresville passed away August 21, 2016 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. He was born March 4, 1944 in Indianapolis to the late Frank W. and Lula D. (Roberts) Mason. On August 27, 1988 Michael was united marriage to Debbra M. (McLain) Mason and she survives.
Michael proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and Army National Guard and retired after 20 years of service. He later worked as a maintenance supervisor for Nice Pak and Piazza Produce for many years. He was a member of VFW Post #1111 in Mooresville and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Mooresville. Michael enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities including softball, baseball, and parasailing; he enjoyed bowling and was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan. Above all, Michael loved spending time with his loving wife, children and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Michael was also preceded in death by his brother, Bill Mason and his sister, Artie Mailloux.
Survivors include his wife, Debbra of Mooresville; his children, Michael A. Mason, Jr. of Clarksville, TN, Michelle D. Mason of Mooresville, Carleen (Paul) DeRee of Brooklyn, Lori (Randy) Robert of Paris, TN, and Cristy (Stirling) Mason-Antoine of Clarksville, TN; his brother, David (Sherri) Mason of Avon; three sisters, Marsha (Robert) Crane of Avon, Mary (Frank) England of Indianapolis, and Cathy Pavey of Avon; 10 grandchildren, Brittany and Aayden Mason, Bryan Grosklos II, Charles Craig, Allen Hall, Christopher Mason, Sophia Antoine, Monique (Matt) McLean, Paul E. DeRee IV, and Tyler DeRee; his great granddaughter, Elaina McLean and several other great grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Michael A. Mason, Sr. from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2016 in the chapel at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 26 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis.
