Michael L. Bennett

74, of Mooresville, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his family. Michael was born on August 29, 1944 in Indianapolis, IN to the late, James E. Bennett and Nettie B. (Hunt) Bennett.

Michael married the love of his life, Fran Smith on November 9, 1963 and celebrated 55 years of marriage this last year. Together, they raised four children Mike Jr, Patty, Tammy and Diana. Michael was a hardworking, family man who enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, gardening or woodworking. He was also a diehard Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan. He will be fondly remembered by his family as “the opinionated teddy bear”. Once he set his mind on something, you were hard pressed to change it, but he had a heart of gold and didn’t hold a grudge.

With a young family, Michael worked as a Town Marshall in Roachdale, IN and as a volunteer fireman for Wayne Township. An electrician by trade, he worked for the State of Indiana and IUPUI for may years, until his retirement. He was also a past member of the Mooresville Lions Club and a Past President of the Plainfield HS Band Boosters Club in the 1980’s.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 55 years, Fran Ann (Smith) Bennett; son Mike Bennett, Jr.; daughters Patty K. Pringle (Scott), Tammy A. Medsker (Tim), Diana K. Boles (Steven); brother Bernard Bennett, 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-8pm at Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11am with Chaplain John Lefler officiating. Burial will follow the services in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.
