Mildred Jane Casey

Mildred “Millie” Jane Holland Casey, 88, Mooresville, died November 9, 2023. She was born on September 19, 1935, to Charles and Loie Holland. She was the youngest of eleven children. While serving as a “Mother’s Helper” in northwest Indiana, she graduated from Crown Point High School. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Mooresville for sixty years. She was a former president of the Come Into the Garden Club, a national flower show judge, a volunteer at Churches in Mission and the Lucille Raines Home, and a regular patron of Mooresville Public Library. She won numerous ribbons for her flower show entries. She was an avid bridge player and formed lasting friendships through the game. She married Robert E. Casey on February 27, 1955. He preceded her in death (2007). Although employed periodically, her joys in life were her family and being an active member of the Mooresville community. Her creativity, love for family and care for others were hallmarks of her life. Throughout her years, she never hesitated to assist family, friends, and strangers when in need.

Survivors also include her four children:  Michael Casey of Mitchellville, MD; Carolyn Casey Reed (Bill) of Fishers, IN; Linda Casey of Indianapolis, IN and Douglas Casey (Kim) of Mooresville, IN.  Her memory is also cherished by her seven grandchildren, Mark, Adam, Ryan, Zach, Kathleen, Thomas and James, along with ten great-grandchildren. 

A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church, Mooresville on Sunday, November 26 at 5:00 p.m., with a social gathering following the service at the church. Burial and a graveside service will take place at the Mooresville Cemetery on Saturday, November 25 at 11:00 a.m.  Carlilse – Branson Funeral Service and Crematory has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Memorial contributions can be made to “Millie’s Chickadee Fund” at First United Methodist Church, Mooresville; the Mooresville Public Library; Heifer Project International or the charity of your choice.
