Milford “Mel” Plummer
88, of Mooresville, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2017. Mel was born on November 9, 1929 in Mooresville, Indiana to the late Carl and Pearl (Sawyers) Plummer.
Mel was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. After service, he returned home and became a pipefitter and managed Steel Protection & Chemical in Mooresville until the plant closed and then later was a MillWright with RCA/Thomson Consumer Electronics, before retiring in 1997. After his retirement, he enjoyed wintering with his wife Margarett in Florida. He was a loving caregiver to Margarett and caretaker of their home.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Virginia and Margarett Plummer, siblings; William Plummer, Carol Jean White, Edna Marie Atwell, Katheryn Kinslow, Joann Muncie and Nancy Hamner and one great grandson.
He is survived by his brother; Richard Plummer, stepchildren; Mike Richardson, Sheila Chitwood, Kim Harrough, Kip Ennis, Jill Hopkins, Tawnee Deaton, 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
Services are private. Arrangements are entrusted to Carlisle- Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mel’s memory to the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, Great Lakes Hospice or to the donor’s favorite charity.
