Minnie Cohen-Corbin, 78, Brooklyn, died peacefully at home, after a courageous battle with cancer on July 27, 2013. She was born in Indianapolis on November 1, 1934, to the late Howard and Roselyn (Adams) Weeks.
Minnie was the manager of the credit union at Bridgeport Brass for 25 years, retiring in 1994. She was baptized at the age of 14 in the Gosport Christian Church and was a member of the Brooklyn Christian Church in later years. A proud mother, she was strongly devoted to her family and especially enjoyed family get-togethers. She was an avid euchre player, could often be found tending to her flower gardens, enjoyed traveling, country music, and dancing. Minnie will be missed by a loving family and many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two previous husbands, Robert E. Cohen in 1970 and Donald K. Corbin in 2007; sister, Gale Weeks-Frye; brother, Dale Weeks.
Survivors include her son, Doug Cohen (Jeana) of Martinsville; daughters, Debbie Cohen-Myers (James) of Mooresville, Janet Cohen-Helms (Fred) of Monrovia, Terri Disney of Martinsville; step-children, Randy Corbin of Texas, Kim Corbin of Indianapolis, Sabrina Corbin of Indianapolis, and Sheila Helms of Bloomington; brother, Arnold Weeks of Washington; sister, Monica Baker of Plainfield; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 31, 2013 in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 8 p .m., Tuesday, July 30, 2013. Rev. Jeff Newton will officiate the service, and burial will be in the Centerton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brooklyn Volunteer Fire Department.
