Myrtle (Davis) Collins, 80, Mooresville, passed away July 25, 2019, at Meadow Lakes. Mrs. Collins was born June 27, 1939, in Indianapolis, to the late Otha Davis and Edna (Henderson) Day Davis.
Myrtle attended Decatur Central High School. She was employed with the United States Postal Service for 26 years, retiring in 1999 from the Bloomington Post Office. She had also worked at the Martinsville, downtown Indianapolis, and Kalamazoo, Michigan locations through the years. She was a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star Martha Chapter. Myrtle was an accomplished seamstress, enjoyed embroidery and was the co-owner of Stitches & Such in Mooresville. She and her late husband, Walter Collins, enjoyed many hours touring on their motorcycle. Above all, Myrtle was strongly devoted to her family. Her memory will be cherished by a loving family and many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter E. Collins, who died May 24, 2019 and a brother, Donnie Davis.
Survivors include two sons, David Ayers (John Banks) and Doug Ayers (Tina), both of Mooresville; daughters, Linda Rogers of New Castle, Joi Barr (Gary) of Texas, Dana Johnson (James Weik) of Texas, and Toni Bearden (Rich Miles) of Florida; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren.
Friends and family will gather Tuesday, July 30, 2019, 5 to 7 p.m., in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Pastor Brandon Sichting will officiate the service that will follow at 7 p.m. Cremation will follow services at the Morgan County Crematory, Mooresville.
