Nancy Sue Wilcher, 86, lifelong Morgan County resident, passed away July 19, 2020. Mrs. Wilcher was born May 5, 1934, in Morgan County, to the late Robert Lowell and Susan Marie (Watson) Van Hoy.
Nancy graduated from Mooresville High School in 1952. She was a former member of the Waverly United Methodist Church and more recently attended Grace Church. Nancy was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a swim instructor for more than 40 years and taught many people to swim. Nancy was also a Republican Precinct Committeeperson for many years. Simply put, she was a gardening extraordinaire – she had an incredible green thumb that raised a bountiful harvest yearly. She was a great cook and also enjoyed the outdoors and nature. She will be fondly remembered for her loving and caring nature.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Rosemary Wilcher.
Survivors include her husband, Irvin Elwood Wilcher, to whom she was united in marriage August 31, 1952; son, Douglas J. (Camille) Wilcher; daughter, Cynthia Ann (Robert) Chappell; sister, Ruth Ann (Richard) Prescott; three grandchildren, Amber Atzert, Evan Wilcher, and Kyla Wilcher; great grandchildren, Jade Atzert and Ava Wilcher.
Visitation will be from 12 – 2 p.m., with a service following at 2 p.m., Friday, July 24, 2020, at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory. Jim Taylor will officiate. Cremation will follow at the Morgan County Crematory, and inurnment will be at White Lick Cemetery. For your safety and the safety of others, very respectfully, masks will be required.
