Naomi Ruth Baker
87, of Mooresville, passed away on May 3, 2022 at home surrounded by her family. Naomi was born on October 27, 1934 in Paoli, Indiana to the late Cornelius New and Vanga (Tucker) New.
Naomi worked as a CNA for many years for Morgan County Hospital, Miller’s Merry Manor and most recently at Plainfield Health Care, before retiring. She married James L. Baker on April 4, 1952, and were married for 53 years, at the time of his passing. Faith and Family were the cornerstones of Naomi’s life. She was a long-time member of the Spring Hill Christian Center in Mooresville. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, reading, and collecting dolls. She enjoyed hosting parties and holidays, especially Halloween as she enjoyed dressing up in costume. She will be remembered as a great cook, who gave great hugs when you needed it and her famous “Naomi Look” reminding you to straighten up, when you needed it.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son Rodney Baker and a daughter Bonita Church.
She is survived by her children Rocky Baker, Ronald Baker, Jeffrey Baker, Pam (Joseph) Eberhart, Sharon Baker, Carolyn (Don) DeCamp; 25 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren and her beloved dog, Cricket who will miss her dearly.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate Naomi’s life on Friday, May 6th from 4-6pm at the Spring Hill Christian Center in Mooresville, with services beginning at 6pm Friday in the church. Graveside services will take place on Saturday at 11am in Center Valley Cemetery, Clayton, Indiana.
Memorial contributions may be made in Naomi’s memory to the Spring Hill Christian Center.
