Opal Marie (Fisher) Harper Lewellen, 100, Hall, died January 7, 2015, in Avon Health and Rehab Center. Opal was born November 8, 1914, in Dawson County, Montana, to the late Noble Judd Fisher and Carrie Belle (Callantine) Fisher.
She was the co-owner and operator of the Gasburg Store from 1948-58. In the 1960’s, Opal worked as a telephone operator at the VA Hospital and also worked as a clerk for the Indiana Department of Revenue. Opal was a member of the Monrovia Christian Church, where she was the former pianist and also taught Sunday School. She was a 50-year member of the Mooresville Order of the Eastern Star and served as past Worthy Matron. Opal also served as past president of the Monrovia PTA.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde H. Harper; second husband, Kenneth A. Lewellen; brother, Floyd D. Fisher; step-son, Charles Lewellen.
Survivors include son, James D. Harper (Anna) of Hall; daughter, Patricia A. Nicholson (Gary) of Wesley Chapel, Florida; step-daughter, Marcia D. Lewellen of Indianapolis; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m., Monday, January 12, 2015, 2 p.m., in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 12 Noon.
