Patty A. Shumaker, 79, Monrovia, passed away at home September 21, 2018, surrounded by her family. Patty was born at her family home on Bishop Street in Mooresville on July 28, 1939, to the late Schuyler Spoon and Edith (Wrightsman) Wildrick.
She attended Mooresville High School and worked as a dietary supervisor at various nursing facilities through the years. A strong Christian, Patty was a longtime member of Hazelwood Baptist Church. She enjoyed studying her Bible, listening to Gospel music, and never turned down an opportunity to be in the company of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered by her loving family.
In addition to her parents, Patty was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Shumaker; brothers, Schuyler, Pete, Loran, Maurice, and Richard.
Survivors include her children, Anita (Jeff) Boltjes of Lafayette, Sandra K. Shumaker of Monrovia, Jane (Rob) Ayala of Florida, and Delmar L. Shumaker of Monrovia; sisters, Martha, Faye, and Kay; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, September 24, 2018, in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2018, in Hazelwood Baptist Church. Pastor Steve Rich will officiate, and burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall.
