Perry Stapleton, 77, Mooresville, died December 26, 2012, in the Emergency Room at St. Francis Hospital, Mooresville. Mr. Stapleton was born September 10, 1935, in Stone Creek, Virginia, to the late Curt and Hazel (Dye) Stapleton.
He retired from the Plainfield Walmart after 14 years of employment. Prior to, Mr. Stapleton worked at the Indianapolis Stockyard for 20 years. He enjoyed hunting, working in his garden, and camping. He was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan and also liked to watch IU basketball. Mr. Stapleton enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His loving family will miss his great sense of humor and his kind and caring way.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Perry Stapleton, Jr.; brother, Larry Stapleton; sisters, Ruth Henry and Bertie Cooper.
Survivors include his wife, Mary (Hornsby) Stapleton, to whom he was united in marriage March 16, 1957; children, Connie Taylor (Norman) of Mooresville, Sharon Stanton (Joseph) of Fairland, and Steve Stapleton (Amber) of Mooresville; brother, Fred Stapleton of Cincinnati; grandchildren, Derrek Carter, Jason Taylor, Mike Stapleton, Jeff Taylor, Jessica Carter, Dwight Stapleton, Tyler Stapleton, and Emma Stapleton; great grandchildren, Makayla Stapleton, Evee Carter, Abby Taylor, Jace Armstrong, and Trent Armstrong.
The funeral service will begin at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, December 29, 2012, in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, December 28, 2012. Burial will be in West Newton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
