Philip Rodney Shrake

Philiip Rodney Shrake, Indianapolis, passed away July 10 at his home in Indianapolis. Philip was born in Heidelberg, Germany in 1952 where his father was stationed with the U.S. Army. He was the son of Richard A. Shrake and Ruth M. Shrake.

Philip grew up in Bloomington, Indiana. Following his love of music, he and other local musicians founded the rock group 'The Basement Floor' and played at various local gigs. He later moved to Indianapolis. Drawing on his passion for plants and all things living, he built a career as a horticulturist with the Garfield Park Conservatory.

Phil will be greatly missed by his sister Brenda, his nephew Michael and by his dear friend Ginny. He will be fondly remembered by cousins in Indiana and Michigan.
