Renny M. Shoemaker, 71, Mooresville, died August 14, 2015, in St. Francis Hospital, Indianapolis. Mr. Shoemaker was born October 1, 1943, in Leighton, Pennsylvania, to the late Mary and Nelson Shoemaker.
Renny graduated from high school in Pennsylvania and attended Ohio State University, prior to proudly serving in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. He later earned an engineering degree from Purdue University. He worked for a period of time for Lucent Technologies in Oklahoma and most recently had been a mathematics professor at Ivy Tech Community College in Columbus. Renny served in the United States Air Force Reserve for 30 years as an engineer. He enjoyed woodworking, spending time with grandchildren, and watching Purdue football. He will be missed by a loving family and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa (Talley) Shoemaker, to whom he was united in marriage May 22, 2010; children, Betsy Johnson (Calvin) of Ohio, Doug Shoemaker (Laura) of Mooresville, Charles Talley (Theresa) of Indianapolis, Chad Lajiness (Kayla) of Michigan, Rachel Lajiness of Mooresville, Dylan and Cadience Shoemaker, both of Mooresville; sister, Marjorie Stout of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Andrew, Hanna, Megan, Nevaeh, Braeden, and Nathanial; great grandchildren, Audrey and Matt.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate Renny’s life on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, 5 to 7 p.m., in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Chaplain David Clayton will officiate the 7 p.m. service. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Marine Corp.
