Robert E. Madge, 88, Palmetto, Florida, formerly of Poland, Indiana, passed away April 18, 2018. Robert was born October 24, 1929, Mooresville, to the late John and Dorval (Raridon) Madge.
Mr. Madge graduated from Mooresville High School. Robert proudly served in the 1st Cavalry Division, 7th Cavalry Regiment Company “B” for the United States Army during the Korean War. While serving he earned three Bronze Stars, Combat Infantry Badge, United Nations Service Medal, Army Occupation Medal (Japan), and Presidential Unit Citation. He was an electrician for 43 years retiring in 2000. Robert was a member for over 60 years I.B.E.W. local 481 and was a Master Electrician. He was a member of the Waverly Baptist Church. Bob also enjoyed bike riding, going to the gym, boating, go-cart racing, and was a NASCAR fan. He will be greatly missed by his loving friends and family.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Leota Lee (Landes) Madge; second wife, Tina (Huff) Madge; son, Robert “Robbie” Madge, Jr.; step-daughter, Pamela Summers; step-son, Terrence Madge; and two sisters, Barbara Reynolds and Phyllis McCammack.
Survivors include a brother, Charles Madge; step-son, Gary (Debbie) McCammack; step-daughters, Beverley (John) Griffith, Denise (Jamie) Westlake, and Lora (Greg) Hibler; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren
Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Robert Madge from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, 2018, in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, April 23, at the funeral home, with burial following in the Mooresville Cemetery.
