Roberta A. Butters, 81, Mooresville, passed away May 4, 2023. Mrs. Butters was born July 31, 1941, in Ellis County, Kansas, to the late Robert Bursk and Florence (Hocking) Thorson. She married the late Russell E. Butters on June 4, 1966, and he preceded her in death on February 21, 2016.
Mrs. Butters worked for Preston Safeway, Big Barn Restaurants, Ponderosa and Mac’s Steakhouse as a prep cook and a waitress through the years. She was an active member of the Ladies’ Oriental Shrine of North America and the VFW Post #1587 Ladies’ Auxiliary. She loved crafts and spent time crocheting, knitting, making candles, ceramics, and canning. She was an avid birdwatcher and always looked forward to looking after her cardinals and hummingbirds in her backyard. Her talented green thumb was always put to use in her flower gardens where she tended to her beautiful rose bushes. Above all, Roberta was strongly devoted to her family as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be fondly remembered for her empathetic and selfless nature.
In addition to her parents and Russ, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Jerry, and Donna.
Survivors include her daughters, Cheryl (Scott) Lentz, Becky Collins, and Melissa (Jim) Lane, a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 9, 2023, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The Ladies of the Shrine Service will begin at 1:05 p.m., at the funeral home, followed by the funeral service. The burial will be in White Lick Cemetery.
