91, of Coal City, passed away on February 23, 2023, at V.A. Hospital in Indianapolis. Pappy was born on March 3, 1931 in Martinsville, Indiana to the late Charles Weddle and Josephine (Powell) Weddle.
Pappy proudly and honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Upon returning home, Pappy worked for as an assembler for Carrier Corporation and AT&T in security. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW in Martinsville. He enjoyed following NASCAR and cheering on his favorite driver Danica Patrick. He had traveled to many of the racetracks, but his favorite was Talladega. Additionally, he loved trains and collecting everything to do with them.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel (Fox) Weddle, a sister Judy, a brother Stan, and a grandson Sam.
He is survived by his son Joe Weddle (Connie), daughters Brenda Comstock, Judy Fiely (Scott), former daughter in law Becky Kindred (Sam), grandchildren Jason Wilkerson, Shane Wilkerson (Cindy), Ariel Robertson (Branden), Christopher Westmoreland, Douglas McCutcheon, Patrick McCutcheon (Emily), and great grandchildren Corben Westmoreland, Jonathan McCutcheon, Preslee McCutcheon, Mylee McCutcheon, Zelda Robertson, and his beloved cat, J.J.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Pappy’s life on Wednesday, March 1st from 12-2pm at Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with services beginning at 2pm Wednesday in the funeral home. Entombment will follow the services in Nebo Memorial Park in Martinsville, Indiana.
