Roy E. Turner, 67, Mooresville, died peacefully at home on August 23, 2012. Roy was born November 25, 1944, in Austin, Indiana, to the late Estle Litz and Sylvia Genetta (Mason) Turner.
He graduated from Austin High School. Roy retired in May of 2006 from General Motors, after 38 years of service. He proudly served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1968. He was a member of the Lynhurst Masonic Lodge #723. He also enjoyed fishing and playing pool.
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his brothers, Joe and Doug Turner; sisters, Sondra Turner, Gwenn Stroud, and Betty Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Turner; son, Keith E. Turner (Laura) of Greenwood; daughter, Tina Robinson (Mike) of Indianapolis; step-son, Bryant Hopwood (Joni) of Mooresville; step-daughters, Debbie Cox (Steve) of Mooresville, Pam Schubert-Goldsberry (Larry) of Plainfield, Donna Steward (Todd) of Monrovia, and Danisa Lewis (Tim) of Plainfield; 18 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren.
Friends and family will gather on Sunday, August 26, 2012, from 1 to 6 p.m., at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 27, 2012, in The Church at Mt. Gilead, 6019 E. State Road 144, Mooresville. Rev. Jeff Faull will officiate.
