Ruth Evelyn Ellis, 91, longtime Mooresville resident, died peacefully at home on Sunday, November 22, 2015. Mrs. Ellis was born November 10, 1924, in Indianapolis, to the late Dietrich and Emma Teresa (Froelich) Bunte.
She was a graduate of Southport High School and worked briefly as a switchboard operator at Indiana Bell. Mrs. Ellis was a proud homemaker – a loving wife, devoted mother, and caring grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, but most importantly, she loved to have her family together. Mrs. Ellis was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church and enjoyed being a part of the church’s sewing guild.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ellis was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Bruce H. Ellis and siblings, Esther Bunte, Buddy Bunte, Rich Bunte, Johnny Bunte, Al Bunte, and Bill Petri.
Survivors include her four sons, James Ellis (Theresa) of Mooresville, David Ellis (Isabel) of Florida, Donald Ellis of South Carolina, and William Ellis (Kathy) of Wilbur; ten grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren.
The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 28, 2015, in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, November 27, 2015. Pastor Dennis Payton will officiate, and burial will be in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
