Ruth “Jo” Hamilton

80, of Plainfield, passed away on December 19, 2023 at home, surrounded by her family. Jo was born on December 29, 1942 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Harmon Hazel and Ruth (Small) Hazel.

Born with an eye for style, Jo worked as a beautician for many years in Lafayette Square Mall. After meeting Charles Hamilton at a dance, six months later they united in marrriage on June 19, 1977, and were married over 46 years. She enjoyed sewing, dancing, riding horses and fishing. She will be remembered as a loyal, loving wife, daughter and mother.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Jason Darlington; daughter Terry Darlington, and a brother Eugene Hazel.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Charles Hamilton; son Johnny Darlington (Cathy); grandchildren Jessica, Kaitlin, Danielle, Johnny, Bradley and eight great grandchildren.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Ruth’s life on Saturday, December 30^th from 9:00am-11:00am at Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory Mooresville, with services beginning at 11:00am Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will follow the services in West Newton Cemetery.
