Ruth Joan Jennett, 76, Mooresville, formerly of Morning Sun, Iowa, died March 1, 2014, in her residence. Mrs. Jennett was born January 14, 1938, in Morning Sun, to the late Murl and Esther (Samuels) Bowers.
She graduated from Morning Sun High School in 1955 and married her husband, Vernon Jennett, on March 3, 1956. While living in Iowa, Ruth was a proud homemaker and accomplished cook. She was known for her delicious baked goods, caring for her family, and also enjoyed knitting. After moving to Indiana 25 years ago, she was employed in the deli at Meijer, having worked at the Rockville Road and Camby locations.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Murl Bowers, Jr. and Mary Wood.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Vernon Jennett; children, Pamela Jennett (Mark Keltner) of Morning Sun, Iowa, Dale Jennett (Hope) of Morning Sun, Iowa, Debra Laigle (Dean) of Greenwood, and Patty Lathrop (Jeff) of Indianapolis; sister, Darlene Widman of Omaha, Nebraska; brother, Donald Bowers of Wapello, Iowa; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate Ruth’s life on Thursday, March 6, 2014, 5 to 7 p.m., in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Cremation will take place at the Morgan County Crematory, Mooresville. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
