Ruth L. Hansen

Ruth L. Hansen, 88, Martinsville, died June 10, 2011, in St. Francis Hospital, Mooresville. Mrs. Hansen was born August 17, 1922, in Robinson, Kansas, to the late Jesse and Ione (Hughes) Kern.

Mrs. Hansen had lived in Morgan County since 1998. She owned and operated Ruth's Violets and Beads Galore. She enjoyed making jewelry, growing flowers, traveling, and spending time with her family. Mrs. Hansen was also a member of Highland Baptist Church, Martinsville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Ray Hansen; brothers, Dale, Forest, and Dayton Kern.

Survivors include her children, Gary Hansen of Iowa, Susan White of Martinsville, and Linda Thompson of Indianapolis; sister, Mary Baker of Nebraska; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jeff, and Jeremy Hansen; David, Lisa, and Lori White; Chris, Tony, and James Thompson; special friends, Dave and JoAnn Boys.

A memorial service will begin at 6 p.m., Monday, June 13, 2011, in Highland Baptist Church, Martinsville. Calling hours will not be observed. According to Ruth's wishes, cremation will take place at the Morgan County Crematory. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Carlisle - Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville.
