Sandie K. (Ward) Winkler, 72 of Mooresville passed away unexpectedly on the evening of October 24, 2016 at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Indianapolis. The daughter of Earnest and Beverly J. (Parker) Ward, Sandie was born in Los Angeles, California on July 30, 1944; both of her parents preceded her in death.
Sandie worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for In-Home Respite Care for several years and later worked as a security guard for U.S. Securities at the JC Penney Warehouse in Plainfield for several years; she retired as a Captain in 2009.
Sandie became a Christian as a teenager and was a member of Amo Baptist Church, she later attended Mooresville Friends Church.
Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Kenneth Ward, Sr. and Fredrick Ward.
Survivors include her two children, Kimberley K. Winkler of Mooresville and James I. (Melissa) Winkler, Jr. of Danville; two brothers, Earnest (Patti) Ward, Jr. of Denver, Colorado and Roland Ward of Plainfield; two sisters, Jody (Mike) Siddons of Coatesville and Marcia Bryant of Danville; six grandchildren, Nina D. Winkler, Steven D. Winkler, Anna M. Letanosky, George L. Garmon III, Walter C. Winkler, and Sara J. Winkler.
A private family gathering will take place on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. A celebration of Sandie's life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at the Mooresville Friends Church, Friendship House.
