Sharon Kay Porter, 80, of Martinsville, left this life in the comfort of her home and surrounded by family on Monday, October 9, 2023. Sharon was born on May 27, 1943, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Russell L. Havely and Rosanna (Reed) Phillips.
She worked for M.R. Ralph Hearing Center as an office manager for 30 years before retiring. A follower of Jesus, she greatly enjoyed Bible study. She enjoyed studying the Bible with Dr. Arnold Murray from Shephard’s Chapel and Les Feldick. She also enjoyed playing Euchre. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She married the love of her life, William Patrick “Bill” Porter, on January 22, 1977. She relished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was proud, amazed, and thankful that her family grew to be so large.
Sharon will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her large family including her husband, William “Bill” Porter of Martinsville; sons, Allen (wife, Debbie) Partlow of Martinsville, Mark Partlow of Martinsville, Aaron (wife, Diana) Acres of Martinsville, and Clint (wife, Misty) Porter of Clayton; brothers, Tom (wife, Pam) Havely of Florida and Dennis (wife, Beverly) Havely of Florida; stepbrother, Charlie grandchildren, Adam (wife, Cynthia) Partlow, Heather Partlow, Courtney (husband, Patrick) Rehs, Tyler Partlow, Samantha (husband, Jackson) Clifford, Taylor (husband, Josh) Bridwell, Megan (husband, Zach) Green, Trent (wife, Lexy) Porter, Tyra Partlow, Kaylee (husband, Tyler) Frye, Cheyanne Bettis, and Dylan Bettis; and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Russell Havely; stepmother, Francis Havely; mother, Rosanna Havely Phillips; stepfather, Walter Phillips; grandson, Aaron Acres II; and stepbrother and sister-in-law, Charlie and Barbara Kehrer.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm in the chapel at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service and Crematory in Mooresville. Sharon’s Life Celebration® Service will immediately follow, beginning at 2:00 pm. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in IOOF Cemetery in Waverly.
The family would like to thank those that helped care for Sharon especially niece, Marie Chadwick, sister-in-law, Jane McIntosh, and the Main Street Hospice Staff.
