Sheilia Luccille Layton

Sheilia Luccille Layton, 84, of Camby, died Friday, October 13, 2023 at Franciscan St. Francis Hospital in Mooresville.  She was born on May 15, 1939 in Greencastle, Indiana to the late Delmar Redding and Martha (White) Redding Coffey.

She was a dedicated homemaker taking great pride in caring for her family and others. She married the love of her life, Samuel Clarence Layton III, on April 16, 1974.  He preceded her in death on May 16, 2022.  

She enjoyed quilting, adult coloring, and deer watching.  She relished the time spent with family.  When she was unable to be face to face with her family, she enjoyed using her IPAD to FaceTime. 

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family and friends including her son, Joseph Moorefield Jr. “Buster” (wife, Chrstina) of Camby and Danny Hall of Indianapolis; daughter, Linnie (husband, Tracy) Purchase of Forest City, Iowa and Mary Hampton of Indianapolis; and several grandchildren.

Sheilia was preceded in death by her mother and father, Martha and Delmar; brother, Delmar Redding; and sisters, Virginia Abrams, Carol Lockard, and CC Riddel.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the chapel at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service and Crematory in Mooresville.  Sheilia will be laid to rest following a graveside service in Brooklyn Cemetery on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at 1:00 pm.
