Shirley E. France, 74, Mooresville, died peacefully September 26, 2015, in St. Vincent Hospice, Indianapolis. Mrs. France was born November 15, 1940, in Kendallville, Indiana, to the late Frederick and Elsie (Heuberger) Berg.
She earned a Master’s Degree in education from Indiana Central University and was a longtime educator in Mooresville. Mrs. France taught first and second grades at Newby Elementary for 33 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Friendship Class. She enjoyed volunteering in the NICU at Methodist Hospital and also at Riley Children’s Hospital. Mrs. France was also a Girl Scout leader and had been a member of the Mooresville Nature Club for many years. She touched many lives and will be missed by a loving family and many friends.
Survivors include her husband, Robert D. France, to whom she was united in marriage February 12, 1961; children, D. Sloane Anderson of Wilbur and R. Brent France (Dianne) of Saratoga, California; brothers, Robert E. Berg (JoAnne) of Michigan and Kermit L. Berg (Malte Schultz) of San Francisco, California; sisters, Ruth A. Nunn (Roy) of Mishawaka and Janet M. Dukes of Texas; four grandchildren, Holly Spin, Chandlar Anderson, Ivan France, and Kyle France.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate the life of Shirley France on Friday, October 2, 2015, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church, 900 Indianapolis Rd., Mooresville. The service will follow immediately at 12 Noon. Pastor Dennis Payton will officiate.
