Shirley R. Smith, 75, Mooresville, died peacefully at home May 21, 2013. Mrs. Smith was born June 4, 1937, in Benedict, Virginia, to the late Ellis and Sally (Marney) Lynn.
Mrs. Smith graduated from St. Charles High School in Virginia. She was a member of Five Points Baptist Church in Mooresville and the Retail Clerks’ Union. She was employed at Kroger for 17 years. A talented cook, she also enjoyed watching the Cooking Channel and spending time with all of her grandchildren. Mrs. Smith will be missed by her loving family.
In addition to her family, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Rhonda Smith; sisters, Bessie Lynn, Mildred Parks, and Leora “Toad” Lynn.
Survivors include her husband, Clyde W. Smith, to whom she was united in marriage December 24, 1955; children, Derek H. Smith (Tammy) of Greenwood, Jeffery A. Smith of Mooresville, and Tracie Mosier (Thornton) of Mooresville; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Friday, May 24, 2013, in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 23, 2013. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
