Stanley R. Glass, 74, of Mooresville died Thursday, May 22, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Indianapolis on March 30, 1940.
He is preceded in death by his step father, Don Smock; and his son, Mark Glass.
A proud veteran, Stanley served his country in the United States Army (Strike Unit); during his military service he received medals for his marksmanship. He provided for his family by working as a railroad engineer at The Belt Railroad (now known as Conrail or CSX) retiring after almost 40 years of service. Stanley enjoyed growing vegetables in his garden, going to the casinos and playing slots. He was an avid collector of antique coins and clocks building up an impressive collection over his lifetime; he was an antique car enthusiast owning several throughout the years. Stanley was a regular every morning at McDonalds where he would have breakfast with his friends, he was a very social man who enjoyed conversation with others, he never met a stranger. He loved the outdoors and hunting; however his main enjoyment was spending time with his family and especially with his grandchildren who he loved.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Glass; his mother, Lorraine Smock; his daughter, Tracie Glass; his two grandchildren, Abigail Brock and Matthew Kennedy. He also leaves behind his loving four legged family member “Gracie”.
Funeral service will be held at 7:00PM, Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Carlisle- Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. Visitation will be held from 4:00PM until the time of funeral service at the funeral home on Tuesday. Cremation will follow the service at the Morgan County Crematory, Mooresville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Season’s Hospice in honor of Stanley.
