Steven G. Gegg, 53, Mooresville, died suddenly January 16, 2014, after a courageous and very brief battle with brain cancer. Steve was born March 13, 1960 in Perryville, Missouri.
An excellent learner and student, Steve graduated from Ste. Genevieve High School in 1978, earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri Columbia in 1982, earned his MA in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford in 1983, and later his PhD. from Iowa State in 1989. He had recently celebrated his 30th anniversary of employment at Rolls Royce, where he worked as a Mechanical Engineer and served as the Chief of Turbine Aerodynamics and was a Rolls Royce Associate Fellow. He was a member of the ASME and the AIAA. A faithful servant of the Lord, Steve was a member of the Church at Mt. Gilead in Mooresville.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cletus Gegg.
Survivors include his wife, Rachelle, to whom he was united in marriage July 27, 1985; children, Matthew Gegg (Stephanie) and their son, Ellis; Hannah Gegg , Aaron Gegg, and Peter Gegg; mother, Betty Gegg Naeger (Vallie) of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri; sisters, Geri Shelburg (Scott) of St. Charles, Missouri and Kathy Schweiss (Doug) of Festus, Missouri.
Friends and family will gather on Sunday, January 19, 2014, 2 to 6 p.m., in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service to celebrate the life of Steven G. Gegg will begin at 11 a.m., Monday, January 20, 2013, in the Church at Mt. Gilead, 6019 E. State Road 144, Mooresville with interment to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Christian High School. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
