June 1, 1945 — June 11, 2016

Steven L. Swallow, 71, Mooresville, passed away suddenly June 11, 2016, during his semi-annual trip to Friendship, Indiana. Steve was born June 1, 1945, in Indianapolis, to the late William and Helen (Phillips) Swallow.

He graduated from Southport High School in 1964 and continued his education to become a master electrician. He was the owner and operator of Spectrum Electric for more than twenty years. Steve was the ultimate outdoorsman, hunting everything from mushrooms to gold to animals in season. He also loved to fish. A longtime member of the NRA and the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association, he was a National Champion Muzzle Loader and also taught many scouts how to shoot through the years. An excellent cook, Steve loved to cook for family and friends. He was known for excellent barbeque sauce, jams, lasagna, and pies.

Always generous with his time, Steve was an accomplished handy man who could oftentimes be found fixing something for one of his daughters. He enjoyed playing cards - bridge and cribbage. He loved college sports and never missed an opportunity to cheer on his grandchildren in their various sporting events. Steve volunteered with Meals on Wheels and also liked a good book. An avid race fan, he had not missed an Indy 500 race in over 30 years. Above all, Steve will be remembered for his love for family. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather who will be fondly remembered.
