Steven L. Verhines, 76, of Mooresville, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2024, at home surrounded by family. He was born in Indianapolis on June 13, 1947, to the late Linus O. and Inez R. (Horton) Verhines. Steve graduated from Manual High School in 1966 and immediately enlisted in the United States Army. Steve married Debra Barry on June 13, 1992, and she survives. He spent 20 years working as a machine operator for IBC Advanced Alloys in Franklin, Indiana.
Steve enjoyed the outdoors: hunting, fishing, and camping. He also loved watching horse races, football, basketball, and playing cards with friends. Above all, Steve always made sure to attend his grandchildren's and great-grandchildren’s sporting events and school activities.
In addition to his parents, Steve is preceded in death by his brother, Byron Verhines; granddaughter, Brianna McQueen; and niece, Ashley Coop. Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Debra Verhines; son, Ryan O’Dell; daughters, Angie (Steve) McQueen and Jennifer (Kevin) Davis; sisters, Judy (Joe) Osborne and Sonnie Verhines; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members.
Steve’s Life Celebration® Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2024, from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville.
