Steven W. Stinson

Steven W. Stinson, 63, Waverly, passed away peacefully at home November 19, 2018. Steve was born October 23, 1955, in Beech Grove, to the late Vestal H. and Emma (Adams) Stinson. Steve had a very strong bond with his parents, and he took great pride in caring for them in their later years.

He graduated from George Washington High School and earned the distinction of being a journeyman ironworker at an early age. He was the owner and operator of Diversified Industrial Contractors for 20 years, retiring in 2002. During his career, Steve was instrumental in the construction of Bankers Life Fieldhouse and the FedEx hangers at the Indianapolis Airport, among many other projects. He enjoyed his career immensely and will be remembered for his generosity and fairness with his employees. Steve was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and wildlife. He also built hotrods and loved to attend car shows. His memory will be cherished by his loving wife, daughter, and grandchildren. Steve will be remembered for his great sense of humor, love for family and generous spirit.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by one son, Steven Matthew Stinson, who died in 2003.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Connie Stinson; daughter, Leslie E. (Doug) Kirkhoff; three grandchildren, Mason, Brody, and Ryker Kirkhoff.

Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m., Friday, November 23, 2018, at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 24, 2018, in the First Baptist Church, 680 N. Indiana St., Mooresville. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Waverly.
