Thomas Julius “Tommy” Kovacs, Sr., 52, of Mooresville, passed away June 10, 2021 from complications with cancer. Tommy was born January 9, 1969 in Indianapolis, Indiana to George Kovacs and Elizabeth (Lampert) Storey.
Tom was the owner and operator of the family painting business started by his father, George, in 1959. He took over the business and grew it to what it is today. Tom’s legacy will continue to the third generation with his son Thomas. He was a sportsman who loved being outdoors in nature, drag racing and playing with his grandchildren. Tom really enjoyed fishing, hunting, and motorcycle riding with his son Thomas. He spent many nights in his garage working on his drag car or anything else that may need fixing. Tommy was gifted man mechanically, and would fashion a fix for anything. He was a craftsman in every way; nothing was ever impossible with this amazing man. Tom took great pride in maintaining his yard. He would also spend hours tossing the ball with Fritz.
Tommy’s favorite holiday was Thanksgiving, having his family together meant the world to him. He loved his family dearly and was very proud of all his children. Tommy was an honorable man and a man of his word. He is going to be deeply missed by his loving family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, George Kovacs; biological father, John “Scotty” Anderson; and father-in-law Paul Keen.
Survivors include his Fiancé, Mary Barnett; children, Brandi (Jeremiah) Macer and Thomas (Karyssa Patrick) Kovacs; mother, Elizabeth Storey; step children, Christopher (Kim) and Joshua (Tara) Barnett; brother, Jason Anderson; sister, Heather Anderson; grandchildren, Kayla, Brynn, Noah, Eli, Zeke, Sophia, and Ella; best friend, Brother Fred Ohab; biological mother Judy Hofmann; mother-in-law Maggie Keen; and his furry friend Fritz.
