Thomas Lynn Whitley, 68, Mooresville, passed away peacefully March 1, 2023, at his home. Mr. Whitley was born September 28, 1954, in Indianapolis, to the late Harold Thomas Whitley and Thelma Jewell (Abbott) Sanders. Tom married Debra Kay (Phelps) Whitley on June 4, 1972, and she survives.
Mr. Whitley worked for 27 years in transportation for Superior Chemical, retiring in 2019. Prior to, he was employed at Borden for 17 years. An avid outdoorsman, Tom loved hunting, salmon fishing, and enjoying God’s beauty in the outdoors. He was an Elder at Parkville Christian Church in Rockville and attended Mt. Gilead Church in Mooresville. Tom was an accomplished carpenter and enjoyed collecting antiques, rarely missing the Friday evening auction in Rockville. Tom was happy whenever he was surrounded by his family, and he served as a wonderful role model and always led by example. His memory will be forever cherished by his loving family and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Harold Whitley, Kenny Whitley, Kenny Robinson, Patty Burchfield, Susie Montgomery, and Gaile Acton.
Survivors include his wife of more than 50 years, Debra; children, Thomas (Lyn) Whitley, Robert Whitley, Daniel (Christy) Whitley, and Alicia Willis; grandchildren, Vincent, Jocelyn, Dakota, Dylan, Delia (Parker), Dasia, Tristan (Sarah), Brittany, Kalyn, Emilee, Jamison, Sierra (Landon) and Savannah; great grandchildren, Dallas, Daxton, Dacre, Oaklynn, Paisley, and Rhaiden.
Tom’s Life Celebration® Visitation will be on Friday, March 3, 2023, 4 to 8 p.m. at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Rockville.
